MICHAEL ANTONOVICH

Michael "Mike" Antonovich brings over 25 years of satellite industry sales, marketing and operations experience to his new position at the SPACECONNECTION, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telesat Canada. Founded in 1987, the SPACECONNECTION provides satellite capacity and services to broadcasters and cable program distribution clients.
Mike has opened a SPACECONNECTION East office in Norwalk, CT, and will travel extensively to foster new business for the SPACECONNECTION. He will also be keenly focused on developing new markets in enterprise and government services through a number of key sales channel partners and in marketing Telesat's managed service capabilities.
Formerly Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing and corporate officer of PanAmSat, over an 18-year career at PanAmSat Mike was responsible for sales and marketing activities for PanAmSat's core customers worldwide. As a key member of PanAmSat's executive management team, he has a strong history of outstanding global sales management and is credited with building the best marketing organization in the satellite communications industry. Mike is noted as the catalyst for the launch of many of PanAmSat's innovative satellite service solutions, including:
- Successful execution of PanAmSat's HDTV "neighborhood" campaign, winning 70% of the HDTV channels launched for US cable distribution (more than 20 channels of premiere HDTV content) in the first year of this campaign.
- Business planning, partner selection and execution of PanGlobal TV; PanAmSat's ethnic DTH service for Australia, with over 30 video channels launched in the first year.
- Pioneered the launch of QuickSpot (an automatic satellite acquisition system) and PanAmSat OnDemand, the industry's first automated and instantaneous bandwidth provisioning service for broadcasters, first responders, disaster recovery and business continuity applications.
- The development of PanAmSat’s Broadcast Services business from a one satellite start-up into the industry's premiere newsgathering and special events organization, providing the world with the most innovative and customer-friendly services to support events from the Berlin Wall, Gulf War, Peru Hostage Crisis, the Millennium transmissions and virtually every major Olympic and World Cup event since 1988.
Mr. Antonovich oversaw sales activities conducted by 16 regional sales offices in 11 countries on five continents. Key customers for the company were in the program distribution, broadcast contribution, enterprise and government markets worldwide.
Prior to PanAmSat, Mike had a ten year career in a variety of operations and engineering functions with the ESPN sports network in Bristol, CT and later with Satellite News Channel and Group W Satellite Communications in Stamford, CT.
Mr. Antonovich is an active member of the Society of Satellite Professionals International, the North American Broadcasters Association, the Inter-Systems Operations Group (ISOG) and the World Teleport Association.
